The Guitarron has a shorter neck but larger body than the Guitarra de Golpe or the Vihuela. The Guitarron's sound resonates like a deep body bass guitar. The Mexican Guitarron, which Candelas handcrafts, has 6-strings.
Tomas' insight into the market demand for the Guitarron and the Vihuela almost 20 years ago was prime reason for him to begin making them at Candelas Guitars. The motivating reason, however, was that Tomas adored the sound of these instruments, loved playing them and the result is one of the best sounding Mariachi guitars you'll ever hear.

Standard Guitarron
The Standard Guitarron is handmade with solid Cedar wood backs and sides along with a top made entirely of Tacote wood, the typical wood used by luthiers to make Guitarrons and Vihuelas. Tomas' unique bridge design now resists wear and tear far longer than most instruments and the pickguard Tomas designed will last at least 15 years. The Standard is designed with the Candelas trademark round hand inlaid rosette, a masterful complement to the already masterful design.
